Angry Birds ChinaAfter maintaining the number one spot for the most downloaded paid application in the Apple App Store since Spring 2010 and clocking in over 250 million downloads, we can confidently state that Rovio has conquered the Western gaming market. Not to be satisfied by only turning the Western world in to crazed bird catapulting addicts, Rovio has now announced their intentions to formally expand into the Chinese market.

Henri Holm, the former director of finance for Nokia in China, has joined Rovio as head of the Asia business unit and has begun recruiting employees for Rovio’s soon to be built Chinese offices.

Rovio plans on opening close to 200 retail stores in China. Presumably, these stores will sell Angry Birds retail merchandise as well as the Angry Birds games.
